Rann Utsav 2026–27: Dates, Tent City & Complete Guide

The Rann Utsav 2026–27 is Gujarat’s grandest winter festival — a vibrant tent city rising from the endless white salt desert of Kutch, alive with folk music, handicrafts, moonlit desert views and Kutchi hospitality. If you are planning your visit, this complete guide covers everything you need: the official Rann Utsav dates, full moon nights, tent city accommodation, package prices, how to reach Dhordo and the best time to go. Read it once and you will be ready to book with full confidence.

Rann Utsav 2026–27 Dates

The Rann Utsav 2026–27 is scheduled to run from 5 November 2026 to 4 March 2027 at the Dhordo Tent City in the White Rann of Kutch. That is roughly 120+ days of cultural festivities across the winter season. The exact opening ceremony date is confirmed each year by Gujarat Tourism, but the festival traditionally opens in early November and continues into early March.

The White Rann is at its most magical on full moon nights, when the salt desert glows silver under the moonlight. If you can, plan your trip around one of these dates.

Full Moon Nights — Rann Utsav 2026–27

  • 23 November 2026
  • 23 December 2026

Full moon weekends and the Christmas–New Year stretch are the busiest and priciest dates, and tents sell out months ahead. Book early to lock your preferred dates.

The Rann Utsav Tent City at Dhordo

The heart of the festival is the Tent City at Dhordo — a luxury township of 400+ tents built fresh each year on the edge of the salt desert, then fully dismantled after the season so the landscape stays pristine. Staying here means you wake up beside the White Rann and enjoy the festival without long daily commutes. Dhordo has even been recognised by the United Nations as one of the world’s best tourism villages.
